Content Policy
In short. Hexagon Place is a shared world. Everything you build, name, write or publish is visible to other people, often strangers and often people under 18. Don't harass, don't post sexual or hateful material, don't scam, don't dox, don't build political claims or target real places and people, and don't use other people's work without permission. Report what breaks these rules; block whoever you like. We remove content that breaks the rules, explain what we did, and let you appeal.
This policy is part of our Terms of Service. It applies to every Hexagon Place client (web, desktop and Steam, iOS, Android), to the public sites that show the world (hexagonplace.world and hexagonplace.art) and to the feedback hub (hexagonplace.org). If you got the app from Apple, Google or Steam, that store's rules also apply, and the stricter rule wins.
1. What this policy covers
All content you create or share through the services, including:
- objects you place in the world and the creations they form;
- creation titles, descriptions and other metadata;
- chat messages and display names;
- tours, templates and shared scenes;
- reports, feedback and anything else you send us;
- any profile, collaboration or messaging text added in the future.
2. What is not allowed
Do not create, publish, send or encourage content that:
- threatens, harasses, stalks, bullies or targets another person;
- is hateful toward people because of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age or another protected characteristic, including slurs;
- sexualizes minors in any way, or attempts to contact or groom a minor. We report this to the authorities;
- is pornographic, sexually explicit, or sexual material shared without the consent of the people in it;
- shows graphic violence or gore, or promotes suicide, self-harm or eating disorders;
- promotes terrorism or violent extremism;
- is illegal, gives instructions for serious wrongdoing, or offers illegal goods or services;
- spreads malware, phishing, scams, credential theft or deceptive links;
- spams, floods, automates play, exploits bugs, cheats, evades moderation or disrupts the service for others;
- impersonates another person, a moderator, Hexagon Place, Inc., Valve, Apple, Google, a payment provider or any brand;
- exposes private information: home addresses, phone numbers, government IDs, financial details, private account identifiers, or someone's real-time location;
- infringes someone's copyright, trademark, likeness or other rights (see the Copyright and DMCA page).
If you or someone you know needs help. If you are struggling with thoughts of suicide or self-harm, please reach out now: in the United States call or text 988; in the United Kingdom call Samaritans on 116 123; elsewhere, findahelpline.com lists free, confidential services by country. Reports that mention self-harm are handled first.
3. Real places and real people
The globe draws no borders, country names or labels on purpose. Keep it that way:
- Do not use builds to assert territorial or political claims: borders, flags on disputed land, slogans claiming or renaming a place.
- Do not target a specific person's home or workplace.
- Do not build on, deface or mock memorials, cemeteries, places of worship or sites of atrocity.
We treat reports about these as priority removals. If you own or manage a real place and want a build near it reviewed, use the removal-request form from an organizational email address, or email legal@hexagonplace.com.
4. Harassment and abuse
You may criticize creations and gameplay. You may not use Hexagon Place to intimidate, threaten, shame or repeatedly contact someone after being asked to stop. Harassment can happen through chat, display names, builds placed near someone's creation, coordinated false reports, or repeated attempts to interact with a player who blocked you.
5. Spam, scams and impersonation
Do not advertise unrelated services, run scams, collect credentials, misrepresent official support, or impersonate developers, moderators, platforms or other players. Hex, the in-game currency, cannot be bought or sold between players; anyone offering to is scamming you.
6. Copyright and other intellectual property
Do not upload or recreate content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, publicity rights or other intellectual property. If you believe content in Hexagon Place infringes your rights, follow the Copyright and DMCA page.
7. Reporting
In the app: on iOS and Android, Profile → Safety; on desktop, the report panel. Pick what you are reporting (a player, a creation or a message), a reason, and add details. Reasons today are inappropriate content, harassment, spam, copyright violation and other. For political or territorial builds, real-place targeting or private information, choose other and say so in the details. The web client does not have a report panel yet; email us instead.
By email: legal@hexagonplace.com. Include where the content is (a creation link from hexagonplace.art, the player's display name, the time of a message, a screenshot), why it breaks this policy or the law, and how we can reach you.
Illegal content in the EU and UK. If you are notifying us that content is illegal under the EU Digital Services Act or the UK Online Safety Act, email us with: why you consider it illegal, the exact location or identifier of the content, your name and email address (not required for sexual-abuse material), and a statement that you believe your notice is accurate and complete. We will confirm receipt, tell you what we decided and why, and tell you how to appeal.
Reports are used for moderation and kept as described in the Privacy Policy. Knowingly false reports are themselves a violation of this policy.
8. Blocking
You can block another player from the same safety panel. Blocking hides that player's chat from you (and, on mobile, their avatar). Blocks are synced to your account when you are connected; if the server is unreachable, your device keeps a local block list until it reconnects. Blocking is a personal safety control; it does not replace reporting content that breaks this policy.
9. What moderation does
Depending on severity and context, we may:
- remove or hide specific content, or unpublish a creation;
- warn a player;
- temporarily restrict chat, publishing or collaboration features;
- suspend or ban an account;
- preserve records needed for safety, fraud prevention, disputes or legal compliance;
- report to the authorities where the law requires it (for example, child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in the United States and to the National Crime Agency in the United Kingdom), and escalate to Apple, Google, Valve or other providers where their rules require.
Decisions consider the reported content, the account's history, the technical evidence available to us, the risk to other players (especially minors) and the applicable law. When we remove content or restrict an account, we tell the affected player what we did, which rule applied, and how to appeal, unless the law or a safety risk prevents it. If we remove something you paid hex to build because it broke the rules, no hex is returned; if we remove it by mistake, the hex is returned to your personal balance.
10. Timelines
- We acknowledge every report within 15 days.
- We act on illegal content and clear violations of this policy within 5 business days of confirming a report.
- Child-safety reports, credible threats and content that exposes private information are handled first and usually within hours.
11. Appeals
To appeal a moderation decision or a report outcome, email legal@hexagonplace.com within 30 days of the decision. Include your display name or Steam ID, the creation or message involved, and why you think the decision was wrong. Where possible, someone other than the person who made the original decision reviews the appeal. We answer within 15 days. If you are in the EU or the UK and remain unhappy, you may raise a complaint with us or seek the remedies available under the law where you live; nothing here limits them.
12. Changes
This policy will change as the product, the moderation tools and the law change. We post the date of the last update at the top and announce significant changes in the app, on the store pages or on our sites.
